There are two sets of symptoms related to thyroid problems:
- symptoms related to an under active thyroid – hypothyroidism
- symptoms related to over active thyroid- hyperthyroidism
Hypothyroidism
- Loss of hair
- Poor body temperature regulation
- Racing Heart
- Depression
- Brain Fog
- Cold feet / toes
- Digestion problems
- Blood pressure
- Fatigue
- Poor Sleep
- Poor weight control
- Dry Skin
Hyperthyroidism
- Thinning of hair
- Heart Palpitations
- Heat intolerance
- Difficulty sleeping (insomnia)
- Fatigue
- Appetite change (decrease or increase)
- Increased Sweating
- Frequent bowel movement—perhaps Diarrhea
- Weight loss-but perhaps weight gain
- Vision changes
- Irritability
- Dizziness
- Muscle weakness
- Nervousness
- Possible increase in blood sugar
- Shortness of breath
- Tremors/shakiness
- Light menstrual periods—perhaps even missed periods
- Problems with fertility
- Mental disturbances
- Itching and hives
- Sudden Paralysis
Loss of pigment in skin (white patches – often where there has been damage – scratch / cut / inflammation), may also be an indicator of auto immune response.
